Stay 3 nights for my training. The room was good, warm, and the selection of coffee, tea and biscuits were very good. I love the Salted caramel biscuit. It should come with mineral water so we can make tea or coffees and no need to go out to buy water. . Most hotels normally include daily mineral water. Clean towel, hand towel and floor towel. I hope the hotel will provide a face towel so it is easier for the shower. Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hand soap are good. Love the smell like a spa treatment. The hotel said it can provide toothpaste, however when I called the lady at reception said they were out of toothpaste. Spacious car park. Must register the car. And it's located close to the station. It convenient. I didn't try the food at the restaurant, however the food provided for lunch training tasted good. The bread they use for sandwiches is good. I normally don't like sandwiches, but because the bread tasted good I finished the selection of sandwiches. The bar area is big enough. The hotel is located very close to the town centre. Tesco and small shops are just a few meters from the hotel, so if you need anything, it's very easy to get it. The ballroom is big enough and the public toilet is ok. It's interesting to see tap water with a hand dryer.

We visited the computer fair held there in Jan 25. £6 each to get in a bit of a rip off

Only used the meeting rooms and the ballroom for a dinner. Very easily accessed as it is within a 7min walk from the Chelmsford train station, and there's ample parking at the back. Warm and the bar is roomy. Great catering by the staff for a dinner with about 60 guests. It was a Burns Night dinner of Cock-a-leekie soup, haggis with whiskey sauce, mashed potatoes and carrot. I had the cheese plate while others had the apple pie in custard which was reportedly very good. Thank you to the staff who made it an excellent night.

Situated in Chelmsford ready location to train station. The hotel is nice but needs a little TLC. Staff friendly and helpful.

Again attended as a conference guest, again service, atmosphere (it was decorated for Christmas this time) and cleaniness was great. My go to place to recommend to people when staying in the area. Parking on site with a short walk to the bus and train stations, shops and theatres.

Stayed on 2/11. Very good stay .Joined VIP club on our last visit and got a room upgrade due to this, a nice surprise on arrival .Lovely clean well appointed room (39). Staff were friendly and welcoming, special mention to Andrea and Natalie (who was only on her 2nd day there ). Breakfast was very good, im very critical of hotel breakfasts and this one was first class. The hot and cold selection was extensive and cooked breakfast was served hot and fresh. Didnt eat in the restaurant but enjoyed drinks in the bar .A very enjoyable stay and will be visiting again at the end of December

Expensive for what it is. Aged and not the cleanest. Needs an investment to bring it back to glory. Had the bangers and mash, the mash was plastic. Service poor, young inexperienced team.

The rooms are hit and miss. Some appear to have been updated, while others are a bit outdated in terms of facilities/beds/decor. I noticed that some of the mattresses were springy and squeaky while the one in our room was pretty firm and perhaps newer. On our last day, the hot water ran out while my wife was taking her shower. I had none. On a positive note, the staff is exceptional and accommodating, and they provide great service. The food in the bar/restaurant is also wonderful and I've missed it every day since leaving. I would stay here again just for the food. While this is probably unrealistic of me, it would be great if there were some cushioned mattress pads available to account for the inconsistencies in the mattresses for guests to use.

The hotel’s staff is absolutely amazing. Receptionist Andrea was so kind and helpful. We made an event and also stayed one night. They did their best to create a succesful event for us! Hotel is so cute! We had dinner in the hotel which was fantastic. Location is good. Although I had a really bad experience at the County Hotel Newcastle of which staff was rude and not helpful, I gave one more chance to The County Hotel. Glad to gave that chance and book the Chelmsford hotel. But as a chain brand of hotel, management should consider to create a standart service quality in all their hotels. Newcastle hotel and staff was bad. Anyway if you consider to book Chelmsford The county hotel, go for it!

Having stayed here for a week this hotel is a real mixed bag of experiences. The first day I had no hot water, the next day and every day after the water was extremely hot and the shower was difficult to adjust because the markings has disappeared. The water pressure was great though! The room was spacious but worn and tired and the bathroom had a funny smell. There is no air conditioning but a sturdy and powerful fan was provided. The staff are helpful and friendly enough although when I came to check out I had a hot coffee, breakfast box and large suitcase and the one member of staff downstairs didn't offer to open a door for me. Whilst the breakfast box (bacon sandwich and pastries) was provided and appreciated, it was fridge cold. I couldn't eat the bacon sandwich. The parking is £9/night and you're not given any indication of how long you can park there for. The food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner is hit and miss. One busy morning they had run out of sourdough toast (fair enough) but instead of telling me this, brought out my breakfast on an English muffin. First world problems here but I really don't like muffins and I was offered normal toast but by the time the toast would have been ready everything else would have been cold so I said no. I wasn't impressed. The main courses in the restaurant are fantastic! Seabass and rack of lamb cooked to perfection. The starters however are not worth it. I paid £9 for *4* pieces of mediocre calamari.

Worst hotel I ever stay. The only star is for the lovely staff. The rest, it's awful. Loud noises during the night, the shower wasn't hot, the toilet was dirty and the room was smelly. Everything looks so old. Expensive for what it is and definitely a two-star hotel.

I stayed at the County Hotel for two nights very recently...... Bed and Breakfast. My stay was to celebrate a big family Platinum Wedding Anniversary event. I feel I have a special need to congratulate all the wonderful service I received. Everything to me was so marvellous in all aspects. I live alone, and was treated with so much respect, help, and pure kindness. I have elderly family from that event in the area, so hopefully will book again with you in a future visit. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and everthing in my mind was 100%. All staff were well trained, and knew their duties, and responsibilities. Two very special people I'd like to be recognised, and congratulated, are 1. ANDREEA a fantastic Receptionist, and an extremely passionate employee at her job, plus a delightful personality....so very sweet! 2. ELLIE the Supervisor waitress, whom works her socks off, whilst being so efficient, with nothing being too much trouble.... and STILL smiles. Both were, and are, so passionate in their work. I would love to know that they are rewarded in some way for their great sincerity, and passion to their guest! Sincere thanks for my stay, peace of mind, and safety.....I enjoyed every minute....a real treat thank you all. Gill R

I'm here for business, but would be happy to stay here for personal travel. Fantastic location near shopping, train station, and sights. The staff have been uniformly excellent. Food in the restaurant is good. The room clean and larger than I expected, based on some other reviews. Convenient, excellent service, great location. Ok, maybe the water pressure could be better, but I think that's a Chelmsford thing, not a hotel thing.

Chris who hosted the breakfast is the nicest person you could have welcome you to start your day. I d give her 10 Stars if I could ! She was attentive, friendly, personable, thoughtful, nothing was too much trouble! I am so grateful to her and I saw that she was equally amazingly kind to all the other guests at the hotel. I just hope the powers that be know what a wonderful ambassador 👏 she is for them and that they give her a raise. Thank you , Chris ! Andra the Reception Manager was very polite, attentive and helpful. This is a comfortable and convenient hotel to stay at and room prices allow you to choose within your budget.

Great hotel. 5 mins walk from the station, 10 from the high street. Onsite, easy access parking. Staff are friendly and helpful. Attended as a meeting guest but the food that was being offered looked delicious.

This supposed four-star hotel gives you a room far too small with no air conditioning on a hot day of the year. Then charges you an extra 50 quid when you have the temerity to ask for air conditioning. I always thought the definition of four-star hotel was that it had a swimming pool? No gym either. The whole place is tired to. AVOID

I've never stayed at this Hotel before, and was pleasantly surprised when I spent a night there earlier this week. Nice quiet rooms, plenty of friendly Staff, lovely breakfast and a great location. Will definitely re-book when next in the area.

We didn't stay in the hotel but did use their business event room for 2 days. The team were brilliant and so helpful whilst we were seeing up. We asked for extra chairs and a table and within 5min they were there. The hot drink offering whilst paid for, was above expectation with a whole host of tea offerings and a selection of biscuits. Having free parking for our event guests was perfect too.
